Membership Benefits

The East County Mothers' Club offers many playgroups, activities, outings and parties that can provide a great social and support network. Come see what we have to offer!

Community Outreach

Our club sponsors a community outreach or service project several times a year.  See the monthly newsletter, or Coordinator, for the current project and learn how to get involved with it.  Some examples are Food drives, Adopt-a-Family, School Supplies drive, toy drives and many other great community events/services.

Steering Committee Meetings

Supports the club with volunteer positions such as Playgroup Coordinator, Public Relations, and Newsletter Coordinator. Steering Committee meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM and are open to the general membership. Vacant positions on the Steering Committee are described in the newsletter as needed.

Monthly Online Newsletter

Our newsletter is published monthly and keeps you informed of the club's activities. Each month's newsletter will be available online in our Members Only section. If you do not have internet access it can be mailed to you for a nominal fee, so you won't miss out on anything. Article or idea submissions are welcome from all club members.

In A Pinch

This service provides meals, baby-sitting, or errand-running for members who find themselves in need. For example, a mom with a new baby may need dinners for a week, or a family with an emergency may need childcare. See the monthly newsletter for more details or contact the In-A-Pinch Coordinator.

Activities and Outings

We try to accommodate a variety of interests and schedules. Activities can be for moms and kids, for families, or for moms only. Notices of activities are posted in the monthly newsletter and in ECMC YahooGroups. If you have any ideas, we encourage you to contact one of the social coordinators. Examples of activities are:  Strider walks, park dates, family socials, water park outings, coffee breaks, field trips, Moms Night Out, etc...

Playgroups

Small groups of moms with children of similar ages or interests get together once a week. Each group chooses a representative who serves as coordinator for the playgroup’s activities. Each individual group decides when and where to meet, and agrees on some basic ground rules. There are also open playgroups, which is simply a playdate for whoever would like to attend (kids of all ages, held at various times and places).  Open playgroups are listed in the newsletter and online each month.

Sub-Clubs

Sub-Clubs include the ECMC Striders, Mommies Making Memories (Photography/Scrapbooking), Book Club, Mom's Night Out and many others. The groups list their activities on the monthly calendar provided in the Newsletter. All members are welcome to participate in any activity that is listed. Most groups are usually for the moms only. Anyone interested in an activity can start a sub-club group.

Socials & Community Events

The club sponsors several special events during the year that provide opportunities for families to get out and have some fun with other club members. Examples include Trick or Treating, Winter Social, Easter Egg Hunt,

We also host our annual Vendor Night and Preschool Fair that are open to the whole community and members.

Yahoo Groups

Perhaps one of the fastest ways to meet new moms and get involved right away, is to join ECMC Discussion List, hosted on Yahoo! Groups.  Moms in the club use the list to ask advice, get recommendations on local services, announce last-minute changes to events, or just say hello.  This is truly a wonderful resource!  When you become a paid member and provide your email address, the list administrator will invite you join the list and give directions about how to subscribe.
